Shoplifter stole from stores he was banned from entering

Summary

A shoplifter who flouted court orders banning him from two Gloucester stores and the Quays shopping mall has admitted three more thefts – and four breaches of his criminal behaviour order. Zepheniah Campbell, 33, of Okus Road, Charlton Kings, also faces seven further charges to which he has not yet entered his pleas.

Cheltenham Magistrates have bailed Campbell until July 31 for a pre-sentence report on him to be prepared by the probation service. At the next hearing he will be asked his pleas to the outstanding charges – three of theft, three of breaching the criminal behaviour order and one of failing to surrender to bail. While on bail he is required to report once a week, on Fridays, to Hesters Way Police Station.

The store that he has admitted targeting for theft was Iceland in the Oxebode, Gloucester. On February 2, 2026, he twice stole detergent valued at a total of £72 from the store and then returned on February 4 and stole another £72 worth of the product.

The theft charges to which he has not yet pleaded allege he stole more detergent and a can of Coke from Iceland on March 20 and 29, this year and also that on March 18, he stole three bottles of Hennessy whisky valued at £115.50 from Tesco at St Oswald’s. A criminal behaviour order banning him from Iceland, Tesco and Gloucester Quays was made by the magistrates in February last year.

He has admitted that he breached that order four times by entering all those premises in February and March and a further three breach allegations await him at the next hearing.
