New health and fitness club David Lloyd Bishops Cleeve open in time for Christmas

He will oversee final preparations for the club opening and recruitment. Denis joined the company four years ago and most recently led the team at David Lloyd Bristol Westbury. Before joining David Lloyd, he held senior management roles with both Virgin Active and Nuffield Health.
Denis Fitzgerald said: “It’s incredibly exciting to now be able to announce that David Lloyd Bishop’s Cleeve will officially open in December 2026. “There has already been fantastic interest from the local community and I’m really looking forward to welcoming our first members through the doors this December and sharing everything the David Lloyd Clubs have to offer the area.
“I’m delighted to be joining the club as general manager and becoming part of the Bishop’s Cleeve community. My focus is always on creating a welcoming environment where members can relax, train and spend quality time with family and friends.
“With a huge range of health, fitness and wellness facilities available, the club will offer something for everyone, no matter their age or ability.” David Lloyd Club Bishop’s Cleeve will feature a comprehensive range of facilities for individuals, families and professionals, featuring a 100+ station gym, heated indoor and outdoor pools, and racquet sports facilities, including premium cushioned acrylic tennis courts and padel facilities.

The club will also offer a full range of classes. The wellness offering consists of an indoor and outdoor spa retreat, providing a range of unique experiences including a Himalayan salt sauna, crystal steam room, cold plunge pools, a swim in-out hydro pool, heated beds and a tranquil spa garden.
David Lloyd Bishop’s Cleeve will have an outdoor terrace and clubroom, which includes a family zone, indoor soft play area for children, and a business lounge with enclosed work booths. The new club will also offer junior coaching through the Swim Stars and Tennis Stars programmes, designed to teach children each in a fun and safe environment.
Ahead of opening, the club will create a number of new local jobs across hospitality, fitness and spa roles.
