Man pleads guilty to causing the death of pedestrian last year

Summary

A man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of a pedestrian in Gloucester last year. Bruce Drake, aged 79 and of St Aldwyn Road in Gloucester, appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court earlier on Thursday (October 15) and pleaded guilty to causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving.

Details

The plea relates to a collision between a car and pedestrian on Barton Street in Gloucester on January 14, 2025, in which 35-year-old Kieran Jones from Gloucester was taken to hospital and later died from his injuries. Drake was released on unconditional bail and handed an interim driving disqualification ahead of being sentenced at the same court on Wednesday, December 2.

Please note that we are not releasing a custody image of Drake as he was postal charged and so did not come into police custody.
