Summary
A 34-year-old Cheltenham shoplifter has been jailed for six months after he admitted a spree of 23 thefts from local stores. Tiago Almeida, of Swindon Road, Cheltenham, took more than £3,000 worth of goods from Tesco’s, Smyth’s, Holland & Barrett, Waitrose and Angling Direct in Cheltenham. He also stole on one occasion from Sainsbury’s in St Ann Way, Gloucester.

Almeida, who also admitted one attempted theft, was further convicted by Cheltenham Magistrates of two offences of assault, two of breaching a restraining order, one of criminal damage, one of possessing cocaine and two of breaching bail. His offences dated from March last year to July this year. He targeted Lego sets from Tesco’s and Smyth’s and on three occasions stole valuable sound speakers from John Lewis.
