Shoplifter stole chocolate, coffee, baby clothes and washing beads

Summary

A 49-year-old Gloucester woman who admitted five shoplifting offences – two at her local Co-op – has been bailed for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. Claire Powell of Barnwood Road pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court to thefts from the Co-op, Farm Foods, Next, and One Beyond. All the offences were committed last year but her case has only just come to court.

Details

The first theft was on June 21, 2025, when she stole £45 worth of baby clothing from Next at the Peel Centre. On October 9, she took £49.80 worth of jars of coffee from the Co-op near her home in Barnwood Road and ten days later returned to the same shop and stole £90.80 worth of chocolate. On October 29, she walked out of Farm Foods in Eastern Avenue with laundry bead products of unknown value.

Finally, she took £36-92 worth of chocolate from One Beyond in Eastgate Street in the city centre. The magistrates bailed her unconditionally pending sentence on November 24.
