La Vie Studio music initiative will support emerging Gloucestershire talent

Summary

A community interest company (CIC) is looking for business support to help local musicians. The new studio in Bishop’s Cleeve will support emerging artists and aspiring recording engineers, but it needs to raise more cash. CBLV Community CIC created La Vie Studio to support musicians from lower-income and underserved backgrounds.

For them, the cost of studio time, equipment, travel and professional opportunities can mean them working without the networks or guidance that help others move forward. Sebastien Sanders, director of CBLV Community CIC and founder of La Vie Studio in Bishop’s Cleeve, said La Vie Studio Access Sessions was created to help close that gap.

The CIC recently secured approximately £35,000 in funding and in-kind support, including nearly £20,000 from Arts Council England, to deliver La Vie Studio Access Sessions. The programme will support 10 emerging artists or bands with professional recording, production, filmed live performances, songwriting workshops, paid showcases and career-development opportunities.

It will also provide paid experience for two people working towards a career as recording engineers. The aim is to remove financial barriers to professional music opportunities, while helping develop Gloucestershire’s emerging creative talent.

Sebastien said: “We’re currently working to raise the final £5,000 needed to deliver the programme in full and are inviting local businesses to get involved through sponsorship or donations.

“We’re offering recognition for supporters across project videos, social media, our website and promotional materials, and we’d love to connect with businesses that are passionate about supporting local talent and community initiatives.” Most of the project’s activities will take place at the studios, while the showcases will be held at Parler in Cheltenham.
