A Cheltenham shoplifter with a ‘flagrant disregard for court orders’ has been banned from entering all but three stores in Gloucestershire during the next two years. The only shops which Jamie Pockett, 45, can now legally go into are Alstone Local in Alstone Lane, Cheltenham, Badhams Pharmacy in Whaddon Road and the Post Office in Tewkesbury Road.

If he sets foot in any other retail premises in Gloucestershire before October 8, 2028, he will be in breach of a criminal behaviour order made last week by Cheltenham Magistrates. Pockett, of Alstone Lane, was also sentenced to 22 weeks jail suspended for a year after he admitted three thefts and two breaches of his previous criminal behaviour order.
He stole £405 worth of post crete, sand and clothing from B&Q Gloucester on June 10, last year, a quantity of coffee from Morrisons Daily in Cheltenham on December 17, 2025, and £122 worth of food from the Co-op in Charlton Kings on April 2, this year. He breached his previous Criminal Behaviour by entering the Co-op and Morrisons on the dates of those offences.

Passing sentence on Pockett, the magistrates said they were suspending the jail sentence because he has already served a custodial term since the commission of the latest offences. “You are presenting well today and are now scripted and have secure housing,” the court stated.
“You have asked for a last chance.” They added that the offences were, however, ‘so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders.’
