£11K cigarette burglary – Cheltenham man in court

Summary
A 24-year-old Cheltenham man accused of burgling a One Stop shop in the town and stealing almost £11,000 worth of cigarettes has been remanded in custody pending trial. Joseph Towey, 24, of Salamanca Road, Cheltenham, is alleged to have broken into the One Stop Shop in Benhall on February 20, 2026, and stolen £600 cash as well as £10,812-52 worth of cigarettes.

Jointly with Jason Macleod, 48, of Clyde Road, Brockworth, Towey is also charged with two burglaries in the Forest of Dean earlier this month, They are accused of breaking into Mills Newsagents in Newland Street, Coleford, on June 15, with intent to steal and of attempted burglary of ETB Unit 6 at Forest Vale Road, Cinderford, on the same date.
Cheltenham Magistrates committed both men for trial at Gloucester Crown Court and remanded them in custody pending their first appearance there on July 14.
