Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS Trust has received high praise for its exemplary work in supporting carers across the region. The Trust’s annual report on its Triangle of Care programme, a set of quality standards focused on carer engagement and support, has been described as “an outstanding piece of work” by the Carers Trust.
The Triangle of Care programme sets out six key standards that the Trust is measured against, including identifying carers, providing training, implementing supportive policies, appointing defined leads, sharing information, and offering carer support.
In its feedback, the Carers Trust highlighted several “stand-out areas of excellence” within the Trust’s work. These include a “deeply embedded culture of co-production,” robust governance structures, a thriving Carer Champion network, high-quality carer information resources, and strong partnerships with local carer support organisations.
The Trust currently holds a two-star rating for its Triangle of Care accreditation, with the Carers Trust stating that the pathway to achieving a coveted three-star rating is “realistic and richly deserved.”
Carer Lead Cathy Newman praised the efforts of staff across the Trust, saying, “Our feedback is a wonderful reflection on all staff…who continue to embed a culture which supports all the families and carers that we may come into contact with.” The Trust will now focus on implementing the Carers Trust’s recommendations, such as improving data collection on carer engagement and adding carer support information into staff induction and training.
