A 21-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to stabbing a man in a quiet village near Cheltenham last month. Jaimee Saunders appeared at Gloucester Crown Court today (August 28) via video link from prison custody. She pleaded guilty to one count of wounding with intent.

The court heard that on July 25, Saunders unlawfully and maliciously wounded a man, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm. Saunders, of Minetts Avenue in Bishop’s Cleeve, spoke only to confirm her name and enter a guilty plea. Judge Rupert Lowe adjourned the case for sentencing until September 25.
The court heard that Saunders had one set of 12 previous convictions for various driving and shoplifting offences, for which a referral order was made in 2022, when she was still a juvenile offender. Judge Lowe denied a bail application, and remanded Saunders into custody at HMP Eastwood Park until her sentencing hearing next month.

On July 25, shortly after 10pm, police were called to the scene along Finlay Way in Bishop’s Cleeve, to reports that a man had been assaulted and had suffered a suspected stab wound. The incident took place close to the roundabout that joins Finlay Way and Hayfield Way. Saunders was arrested at around 5.20am the following morning.
At the time, neighbours in the area reacted with shock to the incident, and to seeing armed police outside their homes . Another woman, aged in her 50s, was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in connection with the incident. She remains on police bail.
