Woman grabbed by throat and verbally abused in Cheltenham attack

Summary

A woman was grabbed by the throat and verbally abused during an attack in Cheltenham. Gloucestershire Police said a man was restrained by members of the public after being seen to grab a woman by the throat and verbally abuse her near Queens Hotel, on The Promenade. The incident happened between 4.30pm and 5pm on Friday (August 21).

Details

Police said a man in his 50s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of common assault and has since been released on conditional bail while further enquiries take place. Officers investigating the incident understand it may have been filmed by members of the public and are asking anyone who saw what happened, or has footage of it, to contact them.
