What a stay in Cheltenham should feel like

Summary

It starts with the details Cheltenham is a town best taken at a stroll: independent shops to drift in and out of, coffee lingered over beneath Regency balconies, and the quiet satisfaction of having nowhere in particular to be. The trouble is that a trip can be undone by remarkably little (a cool welcome, a mattress with the give of a park bench, a folder of instructions nobody can find).

Details

Luxury Apartments , a local serviced accommodation provider, has built its name on the opposite, getting the small things right, and its guests say just as much. A warm welcome from the moment you arrive Nobody admits it, but arriving somewhere new is mildly nerve-racking. Will the key be where they said?

Will the room resemble the photographs? Both worries can be put to rest with our meet and greet service: on request, a member of the team will meet guests at the property, hand over the keys and show them around. Late arrivals aren’t a problem either, as we can meet guests out of hours too, for an additional charge.

One described their stay as “faultless”, praising the lovely decor, the comfortable accommodation and a location they rated the best of any of their visits to Cheltenham. Another noticed the thought behind the details: “A huge welcome basket of goodies was left for us and some milk in the fridge, which was a lovely touch.

The beds were also extremely comfortable.” A basket of treats and some milk in the fridge are modest gestures, but they say something quite large: someone was expecting you. Anyone who has opened a fridge in a holiday let and found only a lonely jar of mustard will understand why the milk matters.

The welcome folder, reimagined The laminated welcome folder, with its curling corners and a Wi-Fi password in biro, has been retired. In its place, guests receive a digital guest guide that opens on their phone, without the need to download the app.

It holds check-in details and directions, plain-English instructions for everything in the apartment (the oven, the heating, the television remote that is never where you left it), and the local team’s favourite restaurants, walks and Cotswolds day trips. If anything is needed, guests can message the team directly from the guide.

It comes in more than 22 languages, so visitors from abroad are looked after just as well. Guests say it keeps the stay running smoothly from arrival to departure, which leaves more time for what they came to do. The finishing touches Guests can tailor theirs by requesting extras through their online guest account, so everything is arranged before they pick up the keys.
