Seven Cheltenham pubs where you can watch England at the World Cup

Summary
The World Cup is almost here, the greatest showcase of the Beautiful Game. The first match will be held this Thursday, June 11, while England take to the pitch next Wednesday, June 17, for their opening match against Croatia. All the action will take place over the next five weeks, hosted in the United States, Mexico and Canada, with England also scheduled to play Ghana on June 23 and Panama on June 27.
Details
England’s first two matches will kick off at 9pm, while the Three Lions’ fixture against Panama has a 10pm start time – giving you plenty of time to get yourself down to the pub to follow all the action. And here are seven places in Cheltenham where we hope you will enjoy the game.
An established sports bar, with inside and outside areas, there should be plenty of room, with a total of 20 screens spread out over two floors so you can follow how Harry Kane and co. are getting on. It’s in Lansdown Road, just a few minutes’ walk from the Montpellier area.
Just off High Street, in Cambray Place, it claims to be the best place in town to watch live sport. Like The Lansdown, Tailors boasts a total of 20 TV screens and outdoor viewing, serving “good mood food and ice-cold beers”. It is recommended to book your table now so you’re not disappointed.

At the top of The Strand in High Street, this pub may take issue with Tailors’ claim, as it also boasts the accolade of being ‘Cheltenham’s no. 1 for sport’. It’s well known for showing sport, and can be packed when a big game is on.
Spectre will be showing every World Cup match live, and you don’t even have to book – simply walk in, grab a pint, and get yourself settled in front of one of the big screens. Formerly The Sudeley Arms, this Prestbury Road pub has undergone a complete transformation since the last World Cup, having been taken over by Dodo Pub Co.
But just like its predecessor, the Airs & Graces is ready to welcome football fans for the big tournament this summer. Walk-ins will be accommodated if there’s room, but the pub “strongly recommends” booking ahead for the big games. The pub in Crescent Terrace, which used to be home to the Gloucestershire Echo, is inviting fans to watch every kick, tackle, goal and penalty shootout live on its HD screens.
If you are drinking alcohol during the game, you won’t have to go far for a taxi home as there is a rank just around the corner in Promenade. Not everyone wants to head into the town centre to watch the game. This traditional out-of-town venue at the southern end of Bath Road will be showing the World Cup matches, too.
