May 18, 2026
Road outside Cheltenham primary school to be closed all week

Summary

The road outside a Cheltenham primary school will be closed during school hours each day this week and into early next week for resurfacing works to take place. The closure on Farmfield Road, outside Warden Hill Primary School, will begin from 9am this morning (Monday, May 18), and will remain in place for 6 days until next Tuesday, May 26.

Details

The road will be closed for around half a mile along Farmfield Road, between the junctions with Shurdington Road and Salisbury Avenue, as well as along Chelmsford Avenue up to the junction with St Albans Close. A diversion route will be in place via Salisbury Avenue, joining up with the Farmfield Road junction at one end and with the St Albans Close junction at the other end.

The road closure will be in place along Farmfield Road between the hours of 9am and 3pm, meaning it should not affect school drop-off or pick-up times. The school gates open at 8.35am for drop-off, and the school day ends at 3.15pm. Parents should still be aware and plan their journeys accordingly with the scheduled closure times.

In a letter sent to residents, Gloucestershire County Council‘s Highways team states: “Our resurfacing programme is dependent on several factors. It can be affected by things like; heavy rain, changes in temperatures and other weather events, as well as plant breakdown and unforeseen technical issues that arise once work has begun. “All this means scheme dates and details can change at short notice.

We appreciate this is inconvenient, and we will keep our online schedule and our social media feeds updated with more details if changes happen.” To keep up to date with any changes to the road closure schedule, you can check the gloucestershire.gov.uk website, or Gloucestershire Roads on Facebook, or @GlosRoads on X (formerly Twitter).
