New developer Allison Homes South West for 80 Lydney houses allowed on appeal

Allison Homes South West is the new owner of a controversial development site in Lydney. Development of the 12.44-acre site at the northern end of Allaston Road, northeast of the town, was allowed on appeal last year. Forest of Dean District Council initially turned down the application by Cheltenham-based Lantar Developments Ltd, following opposition from Lydney Town Council and more than 380 local residents.

But the Planning Inspectorate signed it off due to a housing shortfall of almost 2,000 homes in the district. Allison Homes exchanged contracts on the site last month, with the purchase due to complete later this year.
