Men racially abused and punched by stranger on Cheltenham High Street
Summary
Two men were racially abused and attacked by a stranger in Cheltenham, near a Sainsbury’s store. The attack took place near the Sainsburys Local and Moon Under Water on the High Street around 6.20pm on Thursday, August 13. The victims, who are in their 20s, were racially abused and punched where they suffered “minor facial injuries”.

The men did not require medical treatment, police confirm. Police were called to the scene and located a man nearby, but he then fled the scene on foot and became “abusive towards police”. The police force said the man is described as being white, with brown hair, and was wearing a dark blue t-shirt and grey shorts.
A man in his 40s, from Cirencester, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was taken into police custody and interviewed by officers. At the time of reporting, he has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
