Hazlewoods appoints new tax partner

Summary

Independent accountancy and business advisory firm Hazlewoods has appointed experienced tax adviser Rob Pearce as a partner, further strengthening its owner-managed business offering across the South West. Rob joins Hazlewoods from Bishop Fleming, where he spent 12 years advising family-owned and privately held businesses, and their owners on a wide range of tax, succession and commercial matters.

His appointment marks a return to Hazlewoods, where he spent several years earlier in his career and completed his Chartered Tax qualifications. Rob specialises in helping business owners and their families navigate long-term tax planning, succession and the broader commercial decisions associated with running and growing a successful business.

Throughout his career he has built long standing client relationships, often becoming a trusted adviser on matters that extend well beyond tax. Rob said: “Every client and every business is different, so I don’t believe in simply giving people a standard tax answer.

My role is to understand what they are trying to achieve, put myself in their shoes and provide practical, commercial advice that works for their particular circumstances. “Tax is often only one part of a much wider picture.

Business owners are making decisions about growth, succession, investment and their family’s future, and they need advice that reflects all of those considerations rather than looking at issues in isolation.” Originally from Worcestershire, Rob will work with both new and existing Hazlewoods clients and believes the firm’s breadth of specialist expertise is one of its key strengths when supporting owner-managed businesses.

Rob said: “I’ve always had an affinity with Hazlewoods. It’s one of the largest independent firms in the South West, with partners who remain closely involved with both the business and its clients. That independence is increasingly unusual in the market and, for me, is a real strength.

“Returning to Hazlewoods felt like a natural fit.

The firm has an excellent reputation, high-quality people and real depth of expertise, which enables us to provide clients with the support they need while maintaining a personal and partner-led approach.” Rob’s appointment reflects Hazlewoods’ continued investment in supporting owner-managed businesses with advice that combines technical expertise with a practical understanding of their individual circumstances.
