Free NHS Meningitis B Vaccinations Now Available to Book

Badham Pharmacy is pleased to be supporting the new NHS Meningitis B Vaccination Programme , helping to protect eligible young people before they start university or residential further education this autumn. NHS bookings are now open The NHS National Booking System opened today (13th July 2026) , allowing eligible Year 13 students to book their free Meningitis B vaccination.

Details

Vaccinations will begin from 20th July 2026 at participating community pharmacies, including Badham Pharmacy. Who is eligible? You may be eligible for a FREE NHS Meningitis B vaccine if you are: All Year 13 students born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008.

Young people born on or after 21 July 2001 and starting as undergraduates at university for the first time in Autumn 2026. Young people born on or after 21 July 2001 living in further education accommodation or halls of residence for the first time in Autumn 2026. Please note that postgraduate students and those starting their second (or later) year of study are not eligible for the free NHS programme.

Why is the vaccine important? Meningitis B is a serious bacterial infection that can cause meningitis and septicaemia (blood poisoning) . It can become life-threatening very quickly, particularly among teenagers and young adults living in shared accommodation such as university halls.

The vaccine requires two doses , given at least 28 days apart , so it is important to book your first appointment as soon as possible to ensure you can complete the course before the start of the academic year. How do I book?

Year 13 students can now book their appointment through the NHS Booking System: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/book-menb-vaccination/ Those under 25 starting university or residential further education for the first time can access the service from 20th July via participating walk-in vaccination sites, in line with NHS guidance. Not eligible for the free NHS vaccine?

If you are not eligible for the NHS programme, private Meningitis B vaccinations are available at Badham Pharmacy (charges apply).
