A Cotswolds tailor has described the thrill of seeing his bespoke tweed suits worn by Claudia Winkleman and singer James Blunt on Celebrity Traitors.
Tom Wharton, a tailor and shirtmaker based in Gloucestershire, said Claudia’s stylist got in touch after he posted outfit ideas for the presenter on social media in 2024. Her brown Cotswold country tweed suit, cut and tailored by Barrington Ayre in its Cirencester showrooms and selling for about £1,600, appeared in episode seven of the BBC series on 22 October.
James Blunt also wore one of Wharton’s bespoke tweed three-piece suits in the opening episode. Wharton said the singer had asked for the clothes to be made locally in the Cotswolds, and had dropped hints about wearing them in Scotland. Wharton could not say he had also made a suit for Claudia, because the show was under a strict embargo.
Wharton and his staff followed every episode, watching Instagram for teasers. “It’s ridiculously exciting,” he said. “Seeing something you have made being worn on television by some of the most influential celebrities is an epic buzz.”
