A Cheltenham road has reopened hours after a lorry crashed through the barrier, leaving it half-suspended in the air. Tewkesbury Road was closed between the Princess Elizabeth Way roundabout and Gloucester Road while emergency services worked at the scene and awaited recovery.

Gloucestershire Police said in a statement at 1pm: “Police were called at 11.50am with a report that a lorry had crashed through the central reservation and is hanging off the side of the road. “The driver of the lorry is currently being assessed by paramedics but is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and plan alternative routes as the road closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.” Gloucestershire Police confirmed the road reopened by around 4.30pm.
