Cheltenham is 'looking up' as two posh chains set to open within days of each other

Summary
Two new ‘exciting’ stores are set to open in Cheltenham over the next fortnight – including a popular viral bakery chain. GAIL’s will arrive on the Promenade this Friday, July 17, set to open its doors from 7am. It can be found at 100 Promenade, in the building that was formerly home to luxury British shoe brand, Russell and Bromley.

The new GAIL’s branch in Cheltenham was only announced six weeks ago , on June 3. The town’s official tourist board, Visit Cheltenham, confirmed via social media at the time: “Exciting news for Cheltenham as Gail’s prepares to open on the Promenade!” The news was met with excitement from Cheltonians, as one woman wrote: “Things are looking up!”, and another commented: “It is so much more than a coffee shop!
Personally I cannot wait.” A spokesperson for GAIL’s said: “GAIL’s is delighted to be opening a new bakery in Cheltenham on 17 July. The opening will bring GAIL’s craft baking to the community, including creating a number of craft baking, barista and management roles. “We will also be donating surplus baked goods through our Neighbourly partnerships.
This is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities we serve and improving access to quality food and drink on the high street.” Customers can pop down to the Promenade from Friday morning to try GAIL’s, the London-born bakery chain largely considered to be an indicator of gentrification in the neighbourhoods it chooses to open in.
But it is not the only new opening in Cheltenham in the coming weeks. Earlier this year, we looked into all the new arrivals coming soon to the affluent Montpellier shopping district – and one of those has now announced its opening date, which is also just days away.
Independent womenswear brand, Busby & Fox, is bringing its signature blend of effortless style to Cheltenham, officially opening the doors to its newest boutique in Montpellier next Friday, July 24. It will be the brand’s ninth store in the South West and its second in Gloucestershire, with another branch in Cricklade Street in Cirencester.
You’ll find Busby & Fox at 10-11 Montpellier Walk, with the opening hours between 9.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays. Designed in-house, all pieces are created to bridge the gap between day and night, work and weekend, and all the moments in between.
With new arrivals landing almost weekly, the brand focuses on intelligent cuts and a unique approach to colour that complements real bodies, making effortless style genuinely easy. Busby and Fox will also be marking its new Cheltenham shop with a launch party for its opening weekend. The first 10 guests each day from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26 will receive a surprise gift and a gift card.
