Catcalling boys follow woman in Cheltenham town centre and 'insinuate rape'

Summary

A gang of teenage boys followed and sexually harassed a woman in Cheltenham town centre, even “insinuating that they would rape her”. The boys, who are thought to be aged between 16 and 18, followed the woman as she walked down Winchcombe Street at around 7.50pm on Thursday (May 28). The gang stopped following the woman after she turned to Albian Street, but they continued to call after her.

Details

The woman was physically unharmed but was left badly shaken by the incident, police said. Officers are now appealing for help from the public to identify the boys. They are described as being white, roughly 5ft 8ins tall and have brown hair.

The boys were all wearing tracksuits and some were riding bikes. Anyone who has CCTV or doorbell footage in the Winchcombe Street or the surrounding area is asked to check if they captured the incident. Police are also asking any other women who may have been targeted by the boys to contact the force.

Officers will patrol the area during the early evening to reassure the public. Anyone with concerns is urged to speak to the officers.
