Armed police are searching for a man seen with a long-bladed item after an altercation near St Peter’s High School in Tuffley, Gloucester, on Friday morning. One boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

What Happened

Gloucestershire Police were called shortly after 8.50am on Friday 6 November to a report of an altercation on Chalford Road, close to St Peter’s High School, a Catholic secondary school. A male was seen in possession of a long-bladed item.

Those involved fled the area, and police said they were searching for them.

Armed Officers Search the Area

The force said there was a large police presence in Tuffley, including armed officers. One boy sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital to be assessed. At that stage, police said no other injuries had been reported.

An armed response unit was in attendance outside the school, and two schools were locked down while officers worked in the area.

Background

The BBC has previously reported a separate incident on a pitch belonging to St Peter’s High School in Tuffley, in which a man was arrested after a knife was wielded during a football match.

What Happens Next

Police said there was no ongoing threat at the school and that pupils were safe within the grounds. Parents were asked not to attend the premises. It is not yet clear from police statements whether anyone has been arrested.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
