A Cheltenham man who racially abused and threatened two Gloucester Railway Station workers while waving a bottle at them has been jailed for four weeks. Alan Bell, 43, of Naseby House, Cromwell Road, Cheltenham, admitted using racially aggravated threatening behaviour towards the man and woman at the Station on January 18, this year.

The charges stated that both victims would have been put in fear of immediate violence by his threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards them. Cheltenham magistrates said a prison term was the only possible sentence because he was waving a bottle in a public place at the time of the offences and the victims were serving the public.
