Woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after suspected stabbing in Bishop's Cleeve

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a suspected stabbing near Cheltenham. Gloucestershire Police was called just after 10pm last night (Saturday, July 25) with a report that a man had been assaulted near the roundabout on Evesham Road, Bishop’s Cleeve and sustained a serious injury. Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition. Police said the suspect had left the scene on foot before officers arrived and a search of the area took place by armed officers. A woman, aged in her 20s, was located at a property near Winchcombe at around 5:20am this morning (July 26) and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
Another woman, aged in her 50s, was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in connection with the incident. Both women remain in custody at this time. It is understood that those involved are known to each other, and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

The force said enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and a number of scene guards remain in place while officers are at the scene. Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with may have witnessed the incident, or who may have any information about it, to get in touch if they have not spoken to police already.
