Guests were welcomed for an evening hosted by Amanda Holden, which included a gala dinner, live shows, an awards ceremony and an afterparty. Olivia Dare from Laura Leigh Hair and Beauty in Cheltenham was among five young stylists recognised in the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Future Talent Award. Olivia said: “Winning the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Future Talent Award honestly still doesn’t feel real.

Hearing my name announced was such a surreal moment, and looking across and seeing my team celebrating with me made it even more emotional. “I’ve always admired the L’Oreal Colour Trophy and followed the incredible work that has come from it over the years, so to now be part of that is such an amazing feeling. To have my work recognised so early in my career means absolutely everything.

It has given me so much confidence to keep learning, growing and pushing myself creatively, and reassured me that all the hard work I’ve put into developing my skills is paying off. “I’m incredibly grateful to my boss, Laura Leigh, for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to enter, and to the whole team at Laura Leigh Hair and Beauty for supporting me throughout the experience.

“I’m so proud to bring the award home to Cheltenham, and I hope it helps shine a spotlight on the talent we have here.

I really hope this is just the beginning, and that it inspires other young stylists locally to believe in themselves and go for opportunities like this.” The competition was judged by a panel of leading names from across the hairdressing industry, including Adam Reed, celebrity hairstylist and founder of ARKIVE by Adam Reed, and Errol Douglas MBE, multi-award-winning hairdresser and founder of Errol Douglas London.

Over the last 70 years, the competition has helped launch careers, transform salons and champion the craft of hairdressing.
