Cheltenham Residents Urged to Register to Vote Ahead of Local Elections

Cheltenham residents who are not yet registered to vote have until Monday, 20 April 2026, to do so in order to participate in the upcoming borough and parish elections on Thursday, 7 May 2026.

Details

The notices of election will be published on Monday, 30 March 2026, marking the start of the election period. Cheltenham Borough Council is urging all eligible residents to check if they are registered to vote by calling 01242 262626.

Once registered, voters have several options, including voting in person, by post, or by appointing a proxy to vote on their behalf. Electors are advised to check their poll cards, as polling station locations may have changed.

When voting in person, Cheltenham residents will need to present a valid form of photo ID. The Electoral Commission website provides information on the accepted types of ID. Residents who do not have the required ID can apply for free ID or submit a paper form to the Municipal Offices by 5pm on Tuesday, 28 April.
