Discount retailer Aldi, in partnership with property developer Robert Hitchins, is bringing forward a proposal for a new high-quality food store at the Innsworth Park District Centre in Gloucester. The planned store would be located off Innsworth Lane and Centurion Road, forming part of the wider Innsworth Park mixed-use development.
The new Aldi store would represent a multi-million-pound investment of approximately £7 million into the local economy, supporting residents in Innsworth and the wider Gloucester and Cheltenham areas. The development would create around 40 new quality full and part-time jobs, with salaries paid at Aldi’s industry-leading rate above the National Living Wage.
The proposed store would deliver the first phase of the Innsworth Park District Centre, playing a crucial role in enabling the implementation of this part of the masterplan and unlocking further investment across the wider Innsworth Park site. The new Aldi would also promote more sustainable shopping patterns, helping to reduce the distance residents travel for their main food shop and improving access to affordable, healthy food and fresh produce closer to home.
Robert Hitchins and Aldi have launched a pre-application consultation, which will run until midnight on Friday, 20 March 2026. Local residents and the wider community are invited to review the plans and provide feedback via the project website.
The principle of a food store at the District Centre has already been established through outline planning consent, and the forthcoming application will seek approval of the detailed design and layout of the proposed Aldi store.
