Cheltenham residents experienced significant traffic disruptions on Monday evening following a collision on the A40 road. The incident occurred during the busy rush hour period, resulting in the road being blocked for over an hour.
According to Gloucestershire Police, the two-vehicle crash took place on the A40 near the Arle Court roundabout. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 5 pm to assist with the incident.
The road was blocked in both directions while police and recovery crews worked to clear the area. Motorists were advised to avoid the A40 and find alternative routes if possible.
Traffic in the surrounding neighbourhoods was heavily congested as a result of the closure, with delays extending to nearby streets and junctions. Cheltenham residents experienced significant delays in their evening commutes due to the disruption.
The A40 was reopened to traffic around 6:15 pm, after the vehicles involved had been removed and the road surface cleared. No serious injuries were reported in connection with the collision.
