Gloucestershire Launches Ambitious Literacy Boost Programme

Ambitious Bid to Boost Literacy Across Gloucestershire

A new initiative has been launched with the aim of making Gloucestershire an “area of outstanding literacy”. The county-wide programme, spearheaded by the Gloucestershire Literacy Partnership, seeks to improve reading and writing skills among residents of all ages.

The ambitious plan focuses on three key areas: early years education, community outreach, and workplace literacy support. Organisers are working closely with local schools, libraries, businesses, and charities to deliver a comprehensive package of literacy-boosting activities.

“Reading is the key to so much,” explained partnership coordinator, Olivia Chambers. “It broadens our horizons, develops curiosity and is proven to make us happier. We want to inspire a true culture of literacy across Gloucestershire.”

The initiative will see the launch of new reading challenge programmes for primary school students, with incentives and rewards for reaching milestones. There are also plans for pop-up reading cafes in community centres and libraries, as well as workplace literacy workshops for local businesses.

What You Need to Know
