A fire in a Cheltenham flat on Monday morning has closed a major town centre road and caused disruption to local bus services. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on Clarence Street, prompting a response from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
Firefighters were called to a ground-floor flat on Clarence Street after reports of a blaze. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the incident led to the closure of Clarence Street in both directions as emergency crews worked at the scene.
As a result, local bus services operated by Stagecoach were diverted away from the affected area. Several bus routes that usually travel along Clarence Street were rerouted, causing delays and disruption for passengers.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the fire was contained to a single flat and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
